THE BAT BOMB!
A B-Movie Pulp Operetta
"THE BAT BOMB!" dramatises the true story of dentist Lytle S. Adams, who seeks revenge and retribution after the attack on Pearl Harbor. He proposes a bold plan: Bats as living bombs! Equipped with napalm, they are to be dropped over Japan. Following their instincts, they should seek shelter in roof gables and set fire to the wooden roofs of Japanese cities. Doc. Adams quickly writes a letter to President Roosevelt. He agrees to the plan and makes a military site in New Mexico available. Under the leadership of dentist, inventor and patriot Doc. Adams, the unusual team of the "X-Ray" project is put together.
During a test in May 1942, the team equipped the cooled bats with self-triggering incendiary bombs. While the chemist Louis Fieser wants to capture this supposedly historic moment with his camera, some of the bats wake up from their hibernation and fly away. Fifteen minutes until the fire ignites! The team of the secret operation "X-Ray" has to watch as their military compound burns down. Doc. Adams realises: the bat bomb works!
